Swashbuckling, classic literature, dashing rogues, mysterious maidens, thrilling sword fights, comedy, honor, coming-of-age . . . these are just some of the thoughts that come to mind when describing Webb School of Knoxville's upcoming production of “The Three Musketeers.” Adapted by noted playwright Ken Ludwig, “The Three Musketeers” is an ambitious undertaking for Webb's high school drama students. The play calls for 15 separate and distinct sword fights, each one practiced with scientific precision under the direction of seasoned stage combat specialist Charles Miller.
Fans of the novel by Alexandre Dumas and the film adaptations will find all of their favorite elements conveyed with both humor and zeal in this rousing, fun-filled show, Saturday, March 8 and Monday, March 10 in Webb School's Bishop Center auditorium. Showtime is at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. The public is also invited to a final dress rehearsal on Friday, March 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Bishop Center.
While generally family-friendly, Webb's “The Three Musketeers” does contain scenes of intense and violent swordplay, and discretion is advised for sensitive audience members.
